East Down Hall of Fame
Congratulations to club chairman Columban on his induction into the East Down Hall of Fame at their awards night in the Millbrook on Saturday night. East Down Chair, Ger Connery presented him with the honour after outlining his impressive contribution to the GAA in Saul, East Down and beyond. It was a fitting tribute and the warm applause around the room reflected the feeling that it was well deserved.
The end of season celebration for our juveniles was enjoyed by a large crowd of children and their families on Saturday past. Vice-Chairman Eddie compered the afternoon and mentors thanked players and families for their support during the year. Big thanks to Callum & Daniel for helping to give out the prizes and to the ladies who ensured the tea was hot and the craic fresh. Thanks to, to Eamon and Philly for the hot dogs and burgers – cooked to perfection! The committee would like to thank all of the coaches and mentors for their commitment during the year. Without you all, we wouldn’t have had such a good season. Time to recharge and start preparations for 2018!
Our first ever pre-AGM was perhaps not as packed as we would have liked it, but a number of good ideas and proposals came out of it. With our full AGM on Sunday 10th December, nomination papers will be available to download from the club website at www.saul-gac.com, or they can be collected at the clubhouse. Times and dates are on social media. A quick e-mail to Mark at firstname.lastname@example.org and he can also e-mail them to you. These must be returned by midday on Saturday 2nd December.
Scór na nÓg condolences from everyone in the club to the family and friends of young Nicole Fegan, a competitor from Mayobridge who was involved in a fatal accident at the weekend. County final has been moved to Sunday 3rd December now.
Remember to keep St Stephen’s night free as our senior men are organising a night to remember. Details will be posted soon, so be ready!
